she sent us some links to skirts/dresses that she found and i love the one below:
unfortunately they don't have my size online and i've checked a few jcpenny's and only found a size 14. i'm seriously considering altering it though...considering...yeah.
now i haven't run this by ginnie yet but i actually have a dress from target that is coral-pink (even if it doesn't really look it below) and gold that i'm thinking could work in a pinch.
the only thing i don't like is i'd probably have to wear one of those white cap sleeves shirts underneath which i think seriously classes down a dress. but. i'm also thinking of maybe throwing on a cornflower blue cardigan...you know a pop of color?! interesting.
i also was at joann's today (they were/maybe are having a huge spring sale and essentially all their fabric was 50% off) and bough this really pretty light blues with gold fabric. it's a bigger pattern than the dress above but still subtle. i was all geared up to sew a skirt and realized i didn't get enough fabric. so back i go tomorrow.
i'm kind of loving this :)
p.s. i looked on joann's for the fabric so i could show a pic and couldn't find it. then i realized i could just take a pic but hey...i'm feeling lazy. maybe some other time.
The target dress is really pretty!! I agree the cap sleeve shirts do make a formal dress feel casual.
ReplyDeleteYou are sewing up a storm Kates.
Of course they don't have your size... *sigh*.... it was just an ADORABLE skirt.
ReplyDeleteBUT
That Target dress... my oh my, is it cute!! And I'm always for a pop of color.
PS: thank you for the Easter egg comment-- that is exactly what I am trying to avoid. :)
Thanks for the ideas. We need to start looking for dresses too. Target has some cute coral dresses, which is probably the color we're looking at.
ReplyDeleteDon't wear a shirt under it. Well, you can if you want, but put a cardigan over it, hands down. They go with everything and make anything look fantastic.
