tick tock...time is literally flying by.  yet i'm slowly making progress on my thirty list:

*my cilantro and oregano didn't make it.  my basil looked fab until recently.  must cook with it soon before it dies.
*bought paper to make origami cranes.
*watched 'who's afraid of virginia woolf?'
*started running for a few weeks then stopped because it's scary!!
*found a shade of lipstick i've worn multiple times...that's progress :)
*made a pact with danya and nycole to go sugar free after labor day.  eeks.


p.s. i'm discovering that revlon has the best lipstick hands down.


p.p.s. i'm sticking to the cheap lipstick...the kind you get for less than 5 bucks or buy one get one, etc.

wisconsin cauliflower.

i love the wisconsin cauliflower soup at zupas.  love it.  i also like the chicken enchilada chili but the wisconsin cauliflower...mmm yeah.


so did you know zupas has a blog?  that has recipes and stuff?  unfortunately not the wisconsin cauliflower soup recipe but other good stuff.

it's august and i haven't had made smores yet this summer. blasphemy.

however...a group of girls from my church are having a cookie swap this week and maybe i should indulge in cookie smores?

i have a redish skirt (just below the knee) that i love.  now i've acquired a magenta-y shirt from the di and i'm tempted to try (ha, that rhymed).  


now i think one aspect that helps is the skirt is wool and the shirt is that old school polyester/shiny.  i believe the contrasting textures will help.  anyway, i think i'll wear it somewhere low key first and feel it out.

something i love about european clothing stores is they seem to still have an interest in fashion even though it can be a low cost store.  h&m, mango, zara, etc.  


while perusing zara's site the other day i came across this dress:

i absolutely love how happy ginnie is, all...the...time.  and coincidentally she loves things that i love (it makes the whole sister thing effortless) such as fun shades, jcrew, candy, little miss sunshine, bradshaw quotes, yoga, games and most of all nelson.  


love you ginnie!!  happy birthday :)

tarte aux pommes.

for harry potter day i decided to make an apple tart...it's no treacle tart but i thought it would suffice.  


i used the recipe from smittenkitchen.com and it was so so yummy.  next time i would sprinkle sugar before turning over the pie crust edges and add a little cinnamon.  and i think i could probably just disregard the syrup step...mine was juicy and sweet regardless.  of course in my haste to trelawney my hair i forgot to take a picture (so i borrowed the smittenkitchen one).
