miss pace, mrs paste...oh whatever
a picture of me according to 6 year old caroline.
i've had the chance to sub for one kindergarten class again and again this year which is so so so fun. when they see me in the morning, they'll run in and hug me. little girls say tell me that they love me. little boys say i'm the best teacher ever. it's very uplifting :)
today they were really really riled up and i managed within a few moments to get them calmed down and it felt so cool...one of those moments where i think i could actually be a teacher.
a few other positives today:
while walking to the bus stop and waiting for it, the random rain/sleet/snow/whatever it was decided to hold off. almost the minute i got on the bus it started again. thank you mother nature :)
i made my sister's ginger cookies the other day and forgot about two left in a tubberware...um awesome surprise!!!
today i showed off my hello kitty watch for show and tell, unfortunately this was mostly a hit with just the girls.
i took a lovely nap and woke up without feeling as if i wasted the afternoon and was more tired than before i napped (rachel i always think of you and your efforts to teach proper napping to me :)
the snow today really was beautiful.

mylifeisaverage.com
a friend of mine introduced me the website mylifeisaverage.com
essentially people submit little tidbits of their 'normal' days. here are some funny and recent submissions...because who can't use a good laugh yeah?:
Today, my brother and I were stuck in the backseat for a 5 hour car ride. The whole time it was raining. How did we pass the time? We bet on which rain drops would win in a race against eachother to the side. He owes me $3.75.
Today, at my school, someone wrote on the wall "skool sucks" Next to that another person wrote "So does your spelling."
Today, I found out that the first definition for 'awesome' on urbandictionary.com is: Something Americans use to describe everything. It is very true
This morning, I got a text from my dad saying "Are you up yet", to which I responded "No". He text me back saying "OK, ring me when you are"

PUPPIES!!!! just wait until grumpa decides we should have puppies again. it will change your world little man :)

it's not complaining...it's ranting!
1. i hate how after you wear a cardigan for awhile, the elbows become baggy. this annoys me to no end. i would wash them less (and be much greener) if this did not occur.
2. today a car blatantly turned left right in front of me so i had to slam on the brakes...seriously could have been a serious accident. as she's turning just past my window she's looking right at me with absolutely no expression. she didn't mouth i'm sorry. she didn't look petrified...nothing. seriously?!
3. so i took a prenatal yoga workshop today which overall was fascinating. however did you know that the internal (or external...i forget) obliques literally split apart during pregnancy. your abs part like the red sea...uh what?!? i guess logically this makes sense but seriously?!
4. why do they still only sell girl scout cookies once a year? i understand that they think a limited supply increases demand but americans officially likes girl scout cookies. we're addicted. i'm sure that we'd continue to buy obscene amounts of girl scout cookies throughout the year. i for one can't get enough of tag-a-longs, thin mints and samoas.
5. boys. can't live with them...can't live without them. bummer.

not so happy thoughts
jessica posted this pic when her bike was stolen because she felt the same way as the author, just as i do now. currently i'm wishing it were more dangerous to use a camera....
btw. as i was trying to convince myself that the items weren't stolen and just lost i said to my friend duard, "i understand stealing a camera and a wallet but my calendar?! who would steal a cheap calendar?" to which he responded, "uh...a stalker?" hilarious and seriously disturbing all at the same time...duard you're a riot :)
so i mourn you cute cute camera with the cutest camera case. i took you to europe this summer and did my self portrait series:
you took many many pics of my loves...niece and nephew:
and who can forget nephew's christmas eve photo shoot:
goodbye dearest and loveliest of cameras.
p.s. the sweetest lady at church got up and said yesterday, "find joy and happiness in this very moment" i don't know about you but it is such a good reminder (and not just because i miss my camera :).

yoga yoga yoga
i love yoga. i'm currently in a training course and it causes me immense delight everytime i learn something new. i'm literally falling in love with yoga...and it's brilliant.
today i took a restore yoga class that left me feeling completely loose and relaxed. here's one of the vinyasas or series of poses from the class:
start in child's pose (balasana). if you only do this series then breath deeply in and out for at least 8 breaths.
proceed to then rise into upward facing dog (urdhva mukha svanasana). you can also come into cobra (bhujangasana), you will be lifted off the ground from about your belly button and your elbows can have a slight bend. keep your shoulders moving down from your ears.
lower down onto your hands and knees into table pose with a flat back. rotate your pelvis out, lowering your belly and pull your shoulders back into cow pose (bitilasana). counter with cat pose (marjaryasana), pushing your shoulder blades up while curving your back. then pull your hips back and down into child's pose again.
written out simply here is the vinyasa or series:
inhale child's pose
exhale sliding forward
inhale upward facing dog
exhale downward facing dog
inhale table pose to cow pose
exhale cat pose
inhale child's pose

luckymag cute girl of the day
one of my all time favorite magazines is lucky. it is the self proclaimed "ultimate shopping guide"...yikes. shouldn't be shopping. instead, i use it for inspiration. the magazine's website, luckymag.com is constantly updated with information including (drum roll) cute outfit of the day pics, from luckymag employees, that live in new york city. cool yeah?
most of these will have slight adjustments made...such as a longer skirt, flats, etc. anyways, i'm an addict for this stuff...which if you're here then you already knew that :)

mediterranean chicken
ingredients: 1 egg; 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream; 1 cup crushed saltine crackers; 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese; 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil; 1 tablespoon garlic powder; salt and pepper to taste; 1/4 cup olive oil; about 4 chicken breasts
1. preheat oven to 400 degrees fahrenheit
2. combine egg, heavy cream and beat together well
3. in another bowl combine cracker crumbs (crushing the crackers is something the nephew would definitely enjoy...if you could prevent him from eating the crackers), cheese, basil, garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste
4. rinse chicken and pat dry. dip each piece into the egg wash and then roll in cracker crumb mixture.
5. fry chicken in olive oil (medium heat) for about 5 minutes or until golden brown and crusty.
6. place chicken in baking dish and cover with foil.
7. bake, covered, at 400 degrees fahrenheit for 15 minutes, remove foil and bake, uncovered for 15 - 20 minutes.
8. proceed to eat (plating food is optional)
